Pate a Tarte


Ingredients:

6 cups flour
1 tbsp salt
1 lbs Crisco or grated frozen butter
1 egg
¾ cup ice cold water
2 tbsp vinegar

Method:

·    In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour and salt.
·    Add the Crisco or butter and cut well with a pastry cutter. Your dough should have small pea like clump consistency
·    In a different bowl mix egg, ice cold water (prepare your water the night before and leave it a cold place in you fridge) and vinegar and add to your flour mix
·    Gently mix you dough but do not over mix it, you just want to bring it together. Form into a ball and place on a piece of wax paper and refrigerate for and hour
·    Divide dough and roll out to form the crust and cover of you pie and fill with your favorite recipe

You can prepare the dough ahead of time and freeze. It will hold well for up to a month well.
